Ground and Pound
Ground and Pound techniques are a staple in MMA. More often than not, when we think of striking arts such as Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing, we associate the sports with their effectiveness standing.
On the ground, wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu are commonly thought of to be the dominant grappling arts.
Sometimes, the difference between winning and losing lies in our ability to effectively land punches, kicks, knees, and elbows while we are grappling.
UFC Hall of Fame inductee, Mark Coleman is known as the Godfather of Ground and Pound. Coleman changed the sport forever in the mid to late 1990s. Utilizing his wrestling background, he took the sport by storm as he pounded his opponents on the ground on his way to becoming the UFC 10 tournament champion.
